Volunteer

Volunteers play a variety of roles at Ronald McDonald House that contribute to providing comfort and support to our families. Some volunteers work behind the scenes, tending to our daily operations. Others, such as our Tomorrow’s Leaders group, act as ambassadors, doing community outreach and fund raising. Whatever your talent or personal interest, we are pleased to offer you a variety of service opportunities, flexible schedules and sincere efforts to make your volunteer experience enjoyable and rewarding. The following volunteer opportunities are detailed below.

Our volunteers truly provide the comfort and services that make our House a home away from home. They are the finest volunteers anywhere!

House Volunteer
Can you imagine how many chores are necessary to create and maintain an atmosphere of comfort and support in providing a home away from home for 63 families? Sorting, cleaning, organizing, restocking, lawn care and gardening, baking; all the tasks needed to help our families feel at home. We promise you will go home tired, maybe dirty, and warm with the satisfaction of knowing you have eased another’s worries. We suggest visiting our home away from home to see first hand how you might be involved as a Ronald McDonald House volunteer.

Call Kathy Anderson at 602-798-5093 to schedule a tour at a time convenient for you.

Family Room Volunteer
Going home is often not an option for parents of a seriously ill or injured child. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital provides a few of the comforts from home for adult family members of children who are receiving medical treatment at the Children's Health Center. In 2007, the Ronald McDonald Family Room volunteers assisted 4,195 visitors.

The Ronald McDonald Family Room features the following services at no charge to the guests:

Volunteer Groups

A number of projects are available for groups of 8 to 40 volunteers. Among the most popular of these is planning and preparing dinner for our families (for detailed information, please look for Dinner Program under the Volunteer Menu). Other group activities can be scheduled for Saturday mornings, generally 8:00 am to noon, or 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Such activities might involve grounds maintenance, sanitizing the toys in the playroom, or reorganizing the kitchen cupboards. Collections or drives can be done within your own facilities and/or organization. Please consult the RMHC Wish List link below for ideas.
